bio:
Lovesky
is somewhat of an anomaly in the world of electronic music
.
Originally
a member of the moody, shoe-gaze, drone band The Veldt,
Michael Simone realized his contrasting passion for diverse musical
concepts in the late 90’s. Making a trip to London to record his
first solo, singer/songwriter recordings at the Cocteau Twins’
September Sound Studios, Michael was struck sharply by the variety of
sounds and influences he found while exploring the London record shops.
Deciding instead to return home and begin building his own collection
of studio gear, Lovesky was created with his first experimentations
in eclectic house that would combine his love of organic music with
epic beats and psychedelic altitude.
With his first collection of Lovesky material in hand, Michael flew
to San Francisco to seek out the legendary Hardkiss brothers, in hopes
that a musical relationship would materialize for releases on their
Sunburn label. Thanks to their amazing support, Lovesky was taken under
the Sunburn wing and introduced to the electronic masses with three
songs on their Electric Manor II compilation. With growing interest
spawned from that release, Sunburn then released Lovesky’s first
single, “Drums 4 Better Daze,” with little knowledge of
the mark that would soon be made on DJ’s and listeners world wide.
After receiving support and play from the likes of Sasha, Digweed, and
Sander Kleinenberg, UK’s Hooj Choons decided to license the track
for a re-release to increase the exposure of Lovesky’s distinctive
sound.
Lovesky’s follow up releases, “Dark Veldt”, and the
brooding “Come back to Me” only increased this spell, with
his music being sought out by the BBC’s Pete Tong, for his essential
mix, and a multitude of compilations from notable others such as Dave
Seaman (for the esteemed Renaissance collection), Carl Cox, Peace Division,
and Jerry Bonham to name a few.
Lovesky’s singles and inspired remixes have generated as much
adoration as they have questions. Choosing to continue his musical journey
in Brooklyn, NY with his newest band, Starling Crush , and his own vocal/guitar creations as Michael
Simone, the revealing and timing of everything Lovesky is as much
of a surprise as the evolving approach and experimentation of sound
with each of his creations.
